Every course at VHCS is aligned to the Utah State Core and taught by a licensed Utah educator. The only difference is where it happens.
CORE SUBJECTS
Mathematics
Aligned to Utah Core math standards. Students work through concepts from foundational arithmetic to algebra, geometry, and statistics inside interactive virtual environments.
Science
Lab work without a lab. VR lets students dissect virtual specimens, conduct chemistry experiments, explore space, and interact with physical systems that would be impossible in a traditional classroom.
English Language Arts
Reading, writing, speaking, and listening — all aligned to Utah Core ELA standards. Students collaborate on writing projects and participate in real-time discussion with classmates.
Social Studies
History, geography, civics, and economics. VR brings historical events and global places to life, giving students an experiential understanding of the world and its past.
Electives & Arts
Visual arts, music, and a rotating schedule of elective courses that students can explore alongside their core coursework.
Physical Education
PE that works for a home-based program. Students complete activity logs, learn health principles, and participate in community fitness challenges and events.
BY GRADE BAND
Elementary (Grades 4–6)
Foundational skills in a high-engagement virtual environment. Shorter sessions, more guided instruction, and a heavy emphasis on curiosity-based exploration across all core subjects.
Middle School (Grades 7–9)
Subject-area specialization begins. Students rotate through dedicated VR classrooms for each core subject, building deeper content knowledge and stronger study habits.
High School (Grades 10–11)
College and career preparation. Rigorous Utah Core coursework, elective pathways, and dual-enrollment options for qualifying students. All working toward a Utah state-recognized diploma.
